Put simply this is a map of metal and related music and one of the most beautiful maps I’ve ever seen. It shows how the different styles connect as well as giving examples!
Medieval Metal, who knew? Great job Patrick Galbraith and Nick Grant.
To begin with one must awaken to the realisation that 3D is already very much successful, albeit in one area alone. Namely, sound. By this I mean stereophonics or stereo for short. Now most stereo sound is better thought of as 2D. However the 3D feel is there as a more dimensional experience compared to mono sound, due to the enhanced directionality. 3D surround sound, common in theatres and home entertainment systems, has come along as well but took longer to take off.

Hi All, I came across this interesting clip while scanning the youtube channels, regarding a creative singer, songwriter, and actor, known as Plan B. A young man who’s doing it all and loving every minute of it. So what is he offering?
First let’s do a quick recap of this creative artist. He is a British Musician named Benjamin Paul Ballance-Drew commonly recognised as Ben Drew or Plan B. He began his career as a hip hop artist with his 2006 album ‘Who Needs Actions When You Got Words’. I personally came across his music, again on Youtube, watching his film clip ‘She Said’, a song from his second album from 2010 ‘The Defamation of Strickland Banks’ about a soul singer. This album went to no.1 in the UK album charts. He acted in a movie called ‘Adulthood’ in 2008 as ‘Dabs’. And to top it off, he also won ‘Best British Male’ at the ‘Brit Awards’ in Feb 2011.
What I found interesting about Ben Drew, is that he is a man that gets involved. From music styles to acting…like his name, he was working a plan. His Plan. I also dig his R&B ‘Soul’ sound that has made me wear out the replay button on my iTunes shuffle.
So now that we’re up to speed with who and what he has achieved so far, though small in comparison to many more of his successes, we come to the Youtube clip that got me inspired to write about Drew.
He is giving the opportunity for someone, anyone who has a dream to record a track, to hang out with him in a studio and make it happen. Teaming up with Adidas, he believes that everyone has “their time… and that no matter how talented they are…if you miss it…you don’t get any more chances.”
Its inspiring that someone is willing to open up and reach out to another. Dreams are the fuel in peoples’ lives. Some dreams never see the light of day and stay a wish, while others take advantage of the moment and make dreams a reality. Sure, he may seem rough along the edges to some. (In my home ‘Shut Up’ was the worst swear word to never ever mention, so that will give you an idea of rough edges in my book should you read any interviews from this artist). Despite that, he is talented, and one to be admired for his desires to rise above. I tip my hat off to Plan B for following a Plan.
